A Little Down Time - Chapter 26

Sunday afternoon Don was not feeling well at all. I had planned to take Roman, the baby lamb out into the bluebonnets to get some pictures. As badly as Don felt, he really wanted to go with me. We gathered up the camera, tied a cute brass bell around Roman's neck with a light green ribbon and were off.

About 10 miles from our farm there is a small country road with a beautiful old church...with a stunning field of bluebonnets in front of it. The perfect and safe spot for our pictures!

Here we were able to let Roman loose. He was very timid at first.

He loves to play chase though, so when I started to run...

..he followed. We played chase for a long time..

..until my old body could not take it anymore.

We stopped to rest and had a picnic...well Roman did anyway!

Then, even though he did not feel well, Don could not just stand by without joining in the fun..

He started to jog back and forth..

..and as always, Roman followed, calling out to Don...whom might I add he thinks is his Mommy!

When we were walking back to the truck, Don reflected how Roman just revives his spirit.I just smiled as I nodded in agreement. He is a gift from God. That is for sure!

I loved all the pictures! That is just such a beautiful field..I've never seen anything like that. Roman is adorable and I can see why he would make you both smile. We had a baby goat once we had to bottle feed and kept her in a pen by the backyard. Her name was lambie, go figure. The goat slept in a dog house and she was hysterical. My kids would jump up and down in circles and she would jump up on her dog house and start jumping and spinning. No we don't have goats right now and this is the longest we've gone without. My kids (no pun intended, LOL) are begging to get more. They are just so much fun to watch, especially when they are little.

OMGosh...that is the cutest and sweetest little goat I've ever seen. I didn't know they were that cute. And, the field of flowers, the church, both you and Don...it all made for a fabulous post and I am sure it was a great day as well.

This post with the pictures of Roman really blessed me today.(For some tender reason it brings tears to my eyes) I too have been going through a life altering physical situation that has caused me to have to dramatically change my perspective on life. I can identify with you and your dear husband's journey. I had bypass surgery 6 years ago, with a recent "surprise" of more problems, that stem from a genetic form of coronary artery disease. It's traumatic to be in the prime of your life, when circumstances seem to hit you head on. God has been my daily refuge and sustainer. May God bless and lead you and your husband, and to know that He is our Healer and our loving Father. Roman romping in the bluebonnets reminded me of the scripture Malachi 4:2. Thanks for sharing your story and the great photos today. Roman is now the background on my computer. Hope that's OK. I'd love to meet that little sweetie in person.
Be blessed.

I just spent a while relaxing at Equus Villa. What a great place to visit. I am a Texas girl who grew up in Arizona & California. Now we are enjoying the bluegrass of Ky. My husband's family were western saddlemakers in Texas and Az. I think he would enjoy stopping by too.
Have a great weekend.

I followed over from "Sweet Nothings," and am just captivated by the bluebonnet pictures of you two and Roman.

What a lovely day to spend in the sunshine. That particular experience is given to few, and I think it was especially meant for you.

My every good wish and prayer for continued good RESULTS to report!!

Roman is too cute skipping through all those flowers! My sister and I each had orphaned lambs as well while growing up and there is nothing sweeter! I'm so glad I found your blog, it's wonderful! We had our first foal last year and my faither-in-law used to raised pigmy goat and rabbits before that when my husband was young.
