I decided to host 1 give away per month. I do them on the other blog though - www.ridingaside.blogspot.com I am working hard to increase the readership over there for a specific reason...because I am in the process of writing a book. SHHH - don't tell anyone just yet! It should be done by the end of the year!

Good Day Sunshine!...and a Pay it Forward!

Okay - NO MORE NEGATIVITY OUT OF ME!

My Thank you God List:
1. No one was hurt!
2. Minimal damage to property.
3. No more flood waters.
4. A cool and dry front moved in and for those who still do not have electricity..it is very comfortable, especially at night.
5. Don is home since electricity has not been restored at his job and he has been working very hard and our home is looking really beautiful!
6. We were able to use our truck and some come-a-longs to pull the evergreen trees back upright - so they did not die.
7. Through all the mud and muck, my show horse did not pull a shoe..which can cause damage to the hoof.
8. I have been able to get to work everyday without incident since Monday, which is very good since I am the one who gets paid hourly!
9. Every time the electricity has gone off, it was either right after I got done cooking a meal or at a time where it did not interfere with something really important.
10....and the best of all.... A few more gas stations were open this morning!!

So in honor of my restored "semi-normal" personality...I would like to have a Pay it forward give away! Here are the rules:

August Give Away!

When I won the book Astrid & Veronika, (Andrea from Under a Blue Moon) it was suggested that I should pass it along in a give away, which was what Andrea had done when she won the book from 'V' of Turkeyfeathers.typepad.com. I was thrilled with that idea.

The setting of this novel is current day Sweden, however there are several reference to traditional Swedish customs, including Swedish Pea Soup; something I grew up on. Included with the book, is my Grandmothers recipe for Swedish Pea Soup, the special peas to make this soup, 2 Oneida Soup spoons and a small silver plated platter to serve French Bread on...which goes nicely with this soup!

A Big Surprise!

Today I was finally able to go to the Post office and retrieve a package that has been waiting there for me since the end of last week. The kind ladies at the Post always know to hold my packages and never send them back. To my delight, my parcel was the book I won in Andrea's drawing (Under the Blue Moon) The book, Astrid and Veronika was lovingly packaged along with a few other treasures. The heavy card stock stationary tied beautifully with a satin ribbon, a Monogrammed 'J' gift tag and the most exquisite antique handkerchief! Thank you so much Andrea!! I cannot wait to read the book and am so pleased it is set in Sweden, my Mothers home country!
