A Craft and a Horse Photo

Horse show enthusiast's treasure their ribbons because the ribbons tell the stories of victories ..and well ~ of a few defeats too. But either way, we never want to get rid of our memorable prizes...so in there lies the question of what to do with them? Here is a wonderful idea on how to keep and display a variety of treasures!

My oldest daughter Emily has quite the eye for photography and she took this photo. What you are looking at though - is my photo of her photo, so it is not nearly as beautiful as the one we have haning in our den. This is a picture of me and my former show horse named Ivan. Ivan taught me more than any horse I have ever owned and left a big hoof print on my heart! We were walking back to his stall after a class.

I Dedicate This Post....

...to my poor left foot.....

...which I did my best to break this weekend..

...while moving some very heavy things...

I hate to report that it actually feels worse than it looks...

I am almost mad at my foot for not being black and blue!

..because when I put too much weight on it, it feels like someone is stabbing it with a knife!..now - there is another good reason to stay on my diet!

Reorganize - Redisplay

Do you remember this window seat and interior facing bookshelves? I built this piece and it is one of my favorites...and also the largest! Well - after the Christmas decorations came down, it was time to put up a new display.

I always decorate these shelves around books because it is my favorite place to read. The wedding photo is of my parents.

All of the books are beautiful coffee table hardcover books and are on one of 3 subjects, gardening, collecting or home interior.

This adorable photo is of my Father's parents.

My Grandmother loved and collected many figurines....

...but my favorite ones are by Royal Copenhagen. They combined my Grandmother's love of art and my Mother's Norwegian heritage.

The attention to detail is amazing.

I especially enjoy this one since we raise sheep.

Weigh In Monday.

No weight loss this week.
Weight: 135
Goal: 128
Don't worry - I am not giving up!

..Another Dream House Segment..

DREAM CLOSETS!
...so, remember this picture that I posted under my organization post?...

...Well, because of that post, I inspired myself to collect a few photos of what I would call dream closets.

I love having a place to sit down...to put on my socks, pantie hose or shoes.

A center console that is well lit is a wonderful idea if you have the space.

Can you see the pull down racks?

Here is an elegant mans closet.

How Organized Are You?

Even though it is not official, January seems to be the month most of us get more organized and do a first Spring cleaning. Below are a few pictures of storage ideas and the last 2 photos are of my own kitchen cabinets.

This photo is inspiring to me. I want my pantry to look like this!

I want this!!!! I love the idea of being organized, but I have to be able to see my things to use them...so for me, just getting the most "stuff" in the smallest amount of space is not really being organized!

This might be a good idea for some, but you lose me with the photos on the outside of the box. I can't see myself doing that and although it looks better than having everything all over the floor, it still is not eye pleasing enough for me.

I hope not to offend anyone here, but to me this is a joke! I love my library and enjoy my books over and over. I keep them categorized by subject so that I can find the book I am looking for and at times, they need to be stacked according to size for obvious purposes, but never would I color code them.

I will post more pictures as I get things back into their correct place, but here is one of my kitchen cabinets....

...and here is another. Not going to get too much more inside of this one!

Cold Road Trip!

Here we are on a road trip to Round Top, TX. It was a chilly 42 degrees! Add in the wind chill from driving 65MPH and it was dag blasted COLD!!!

This is the other half of our pack, Vicki and Wesley. Wesley is the top dog who is teaching us all the riding tips you don't learn in class.

Once we drove into Round Top, we were all freezing and starving! We stopped at a tiny restaurant called, Royers.

We found out that this small restaurant has been featured in many Cuisine magazines and it was obvious by the food!

Here I am with Mr. Royer himself!

...hummmm - More Window Boxes!

Just because I can't stop thinking about them...

..window boxes can add character to the most drab house..

..or color to a neutral colored one...

Look what a potato vine does for this one.

Your window box can be an herb garden..

This one looks more like a planter on a window sill!

Fashion - Dresses!

Okay - I admit it.....I LOVE clothes!!! There I said it! Even though I have found georgous items at resale and thrift stores, it does not stop me from looking and even buying from retail stores.

I especially adore dresses.

It amazes me when women tell me that they rarly wear dresses anymore...

..or that they don't wear them at all!

Nothing says "girl" more than a dress...

...and a great pair of shoes...

...but shoes will have to be another post!<
