So The Doctor Just Came In...

..and we now have a lot of answers to our questions..

The Polyps:
Don had several colon polyps that were removed and sent to pathology. One was so large it had to be cut into 3 parts to get it out. It was pre-cancerous. The surgeon told us that it would have been positive for cancer in 3 months or less! Thank You Jesus - it is gone!!! He has to have another colonoscopy in 3 months to check on the healing.

The Endoscope:
Don has Varaces. We knew that. He is in stage 3 out of 4. Apparently they have gotten worse though. I thought they stayed the same. Varaces are like varacose veins, or (gulp) like hemorrhoid's deep in his throat. If one of them were to burst, there is a 30% chance of death ..mostly because of the location. Not only could it cause blood loss, but suffocation from aspiration of the blood. Don has about 25 of these and they will have to be banded off 5 at a time starting in about 1 month.

The Hep. C chemotherapy treatment will have to wait until all this is done.

Good News.. he should be released on Friday!!! yeah.

hugs to all. It is so comforting to read the replies.

So is the pain coming from the large polyp they cut out? So glad they removed it in time. Poor Don, he's been through so much and to have to go through more soon. Yuck.
Good that he gets to go home in a couple of days.
Take care of yourself Julie, it will wear you out fast. Hope your dad is doing better too.
