Texas A&M Equine Hospital

Today I spent the day with one of my best friends, Debbie. I trailered one of her horses to Texas A & M Equine hospital in College Station, TX. Her horses name is Shiro. This was not an emergency, but an appointment for a condition that needed to be dealt with.

After we entered the large building, the first stop was the weighing station. Shiro weighed in at a "healthy" 1050 pounds!

Next we walked to the exam room.

There were halls of different types of exam rooms throughout this facility...

and every inch of it was immaculate. The floors were covered in thick rubber mats.

In the exam rooms, the horses were walked into these chutes, where they can be safely handled.

Shiro looked and sniffed around..

He was a little bit worried..

.until the meds kicked in!

The doctors took good care of Shiro. We had to leave him there for several hours, but picked him up that afternoon. He was such a good boy!

Shiro looks like a cutey - I love his wide eyed stare in the 8th picture; he looks a bit bewildered.

Thank you for sharing your pictures - they were definitely interesting and I enjoyed seeing them :).

Glad it wasn't an emergency. Last time I was at an equine hospital (NC State) it was not such a good time.... and the outcome fatal.
Texas A&M looks like a great place; very state of the art.

I made two trips to Purdue with a colicing filly. The first time she came home, the second she did not. They figured she had something wrong congenitally with her intestines. Glad Shiro's trip was routine and not traumatic.

I love A&M! I have been several times with friends horses and luckily all the trips ended well. Hope Shiro will be okay.
