Thinking About Chickens!

Sooo - we live on a farm.. and because I have really high cholesterol, I can only eat egg whites and trash the yoke, which translates into me eating twice as many eggs as someone who eats them whole. Sooooo - I have been thinking about building a hen house and adding some feathers friends to our animal collection!

It seems like a simple enough project to build the hen house.

So - what do you think? Am I nuts?

No! You're not nuts at all. I'm a city girl recently moved to Texas and I would get chickens (and cows) in a heartbeat if I could. I say do it!

PS: And of course I love horses, too!

I'm a city girl through and through and I'm pretty girly anyway, so I'm not one to ask. I KNOW I'd want to have to clean a hen house though. Yuk! It would probably keep me from eating eggs or chicken for that matter. LOL

Hugs!
Kat

I say YES to the hen house. My son had so much fun gathering the eggs at my aunts farm during our family reunion. Your grandkids would enjoy!

Silkie eggs have low cholestrol & good cholestrol at that. Silkies are an old Chinese breed, small, with black skin & bones that lay small eggs. I had white & black ones as they're the hardiest, but they do come in other colours. Marco Polo saw them when he arrived in China. The cocks have walnut combs & huge spurs (for the size) & the girls have topknots of feathers. The feathers have no barbs & are soft.
