A Mini Vacation to Gruene, TX.

We are blessed with many small towns here in Texas that have a vacation flavor to them, especially the ones that border some of the more popular rivers. Gruene is one of those special towns. Every store was family owned and most were actually in historic buildings. Please join me in a town tour!

A Bed and Breakfast with a Swiss Chalet Feel!

Keep strolling down the path and you will quickly run into the Guadalupe River.

The shopping was unique and fun. Each shop had it's own special decor. Each owner was friendlier than the last! I can't wait to go back, but next time, I am going to spend the night in that adorable Swiss B&B!

EWWWW! I love Gruene, Texas...I recognized Gruene Hall...the oldest operating dance hall in the state of Texas...the Grist Mill...I've viewed some lovely, lovely scenary from there while munching on some nachos...and of course the Gruene General Store...gotta love that ole place...always good for a scoop or two of ice cream...and a couple of souvenir t-shirts...we went there a few years back with the chillen's...and floated the Guadalupe...yes...that is where I almost drowned my lovin hubbin...poor fella...I told him I couldn't steer a boat...or raft! He believed me after drinking a gallon or two of water...loosing his sunglasses and his coozie...but I did manage to save his favorite hat...yeah...that's how I almost drown him...by trying to save the hat!!! Oh well...he learned to listen to what I had to say...

Thanks for sharing those pics...I love that part of Texas!

Blessings...

Oh my Gruene seems to be my kind of town to explore seeing the sign reads~home of ornamental iron works!~
I must make a point to get back to Texas for a visit.I have only been to San Antonio...loved the river through the town ..bought my first ever jeans and stetson hat and western boots!
I am sure I would have many iron ornaments winking at me ..~take me home!~ hugs NG

Julie, the pics are great. Gruene is such a cute little town. I haven't been in awhile. What's the name of that b&b? I used to have the info on it, but can't find it now. The interior pics of the room are wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
