Recamier.. a lounging sofa made popular in the Regency period (1811-1820) characterized by a visible wooden frame and curving arms usually decorated with brass inlay. One arm is always higher than the other, making it perfect for reclining.

The chaise was named after Madame Recamier, who would receive male visitors while stretched out on the chaise.

I am not interested in buying this type of chaise, but wanted to share it with you because the story is facinating!
