..They were about 10-12 feet tall and the blooms were identical to Wisteria...
..but I know this is not the "normal" Wisteria because they always bloom first and sprout leaves second and also have tendrils, which these trees did not have...
..so I am perplexed and want to know what kind of tree this is and WHERE I CAN GET ONE...OR TWO ...OKAY - MAYBE THREE!

oh my gosh ~ I have had such a nightmare of a wisteria time ~ but this might tempt me into getting another one !

It's easy I did this with wisteria in my garden in back in New England.
Get a wisteria, any old one will do.
Train it on a stick, it won't be straight but you don't want it really straight anyhow.
Each winter cut it back to the height you want the trunk to end.
After a few years it'll start forming like a tree. Keep a few branches and let them thicken every year.
Back home wisteria is seriously invasive so I cut it way back to keep it in control. The tree form was an accident of all the pruning.

"THANK YOU" for dropping by and for saying prayers for my DH and his Uncle. My DH finally called about 10:15a.m. this morning and they were finally able to move. I talked to him again around 12:30p.m. and he was fixing to cross over into Utah. They still had some slick spots in some areas to go thru but hopefully they are on their way to North Las Vegas right now. The tress you have posted for today are just beautiful. I have no idea what kind they are, but they are pretty. About the only trees I'm familiar with are Pine, Oak, Cedar, and Pecan Trees. I am going to talk to my Landlord and see if I can plant some flowers in front of my house and maybe a tree or 2 around the yard. I have been such a bad blogger myself lately. It just seems like I'm losing interest in posting and visiting as well. It may be just the weather making me feel this way. I know I can't get up early in the mornings like I used to do tho. Julie, that is absolutely gorgeous. I've never tried growing Wisteria. I wonder how it would do in our climate!

wow, those are STUNNING! I don't know anything about them.
My orchids are growing in the north window. They are right on the kitchen window sill over the sink. I think they like the humidity there. A couple of times a week I take the sprayer (easy by the sink-don't even need the watering can!) and water them lightly. One has rebloomed 3 times so far. And I love how the blooms will last for months.
Beautiful trees. I have a wisteria that never blooms. i need to study and see why not.

Your Wisteria Tree is commonly known in Central Texas as the Texas Mountain Laurel. It blooms early with large clusters of purple flowers that smell like grapes taste.
