...was this morning. It took us an hour to get to the hospital instead of the usual 30 minutes because of all the ice. We passed many cars and trucks that were in the ditch and the only vehicles that we passed was a police car and a wrecker! I prayed before we left and although it was a bit slippery, we made it just fine.
The surgery took longer than I had anticipated and that made me anxious. When I was finally called back for a consultation with the surgeon, he told me he was able to band off 6 spots instead of the usual 4, but that Don would be a bit more uncomfortable.. (oh goodie - I thought.. :0( He also told me they found a little surprise, Don had a bleeding ulcer! YIKES... glad they found that.
Platelet count this morning was 61,000 so they opted not to give him a transfusion.
We are back in the room for the night. Don is comfortable and quite heavily medicated... He has told me he loves me no less than 6 dozen times!!! I like that medicine!!

Praise God it's over and he's okay. Glad they found the ulcer too.
Be careful in the ice. Gosh the weather everywhere is NUTS!
Hugs,
Kat
