These were our old barn lights. I HATED them! Sometimes they worked, sometimes not. They looked - well, just awful!
A long time ago I saw a picture of a barn up North. It was a very exquisite barn that was as elegant as it was functional and it had big iron light fixtures. Ever since then, I have wanted to do that in our barn.
...and today was the day. Here are our new barn lights!
Day or night, light or dark, every single time I go into the barn, I have to turn on the lights..just because I want to!..and for the horse savey - the barn ceiling is 12 feet tall. I only cross tie my horses either in their stall or in the wash stall. Both have rubber floor mats to prevent slipping.

well now....they look beautiful!!! I bet the horses think so too
I agree....very beautiful. So much nicer than the flourescent lights!!!
What a difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh they are beautiful! I just hope your ceiling is high enough they won't hit their heads on the lights- or have one rear up in crossties (always my concern as our barn has ceiling fans with lights too and it's definately within head range if a horse decided to go up in there). It looks very pretty though- historical and dramatic.
Wow, those look great!
What a fabulous look for your barn!
Hugs, Susan
Gorgeous! Julie, you couldnt have picked more perfect light fixtures!! I love them!
I am so sorry about Chrissy :( I know she will be okay. But I dont blame you one bit for worrying!! I would be too!
Big Hugs to you both,
Amy
Are they rated for use like that?
Able to handle the dust that will accumulate and etc?
Otherwise, pretty or not, they are a fire risk.
The lights could be used for indoor or covered outdoor - as in a front portch. Thanks for asking!
Those are simply awesome. I would turn them on every chance I get, too. I wish we could redo our barn and fix it up so fine and all that. I'm afraid we're letting it fall in.. I feel so bad because it was my grandfather's. ...
I love those! Really beautiful...gosh they would look great in a home, even! I hope Chrissy gets well very soon! She's very cute! Susan

My first visit to a "horsey" blog (I have been on a horse once ... maybe twice in my life) and I never expected to see a decorating post with such a fabulous light makeover. Bravo! Beautiful. Equus Villa is more than just horsing around, I see. ; )
Thanks for stopping by to see my blog so that I could follow the trail back to find you.
Wow! I'm impressed! It reminds me of those magnificent stables in Kentucky.
